Decisions you’ll make
We raise these early, explain the trade-offs and give you our honest view. The choice is yours.
Repair or replace?
A few missing shingles or one leaking flashing can be repaired. Widespread curling, bare spots or soft decking usually means a new roof. We’ll show you photos of what we see.
Which shingle?
Architectural shingles are thicker and the most common choice now. Three-tab shingles cost less but are harder to match later. Color matters more than people expect.
Is the attic ventilated?
Ridge and soffit vents help a roof last. If the attic isn’t venting properly, we’ll explain the fix.
What size gutters?
Larger gutters move more water off big roof areas. Aluminum is the usual choice; steel and copper cost more.
Gutter guards?
They cut down on cleaning but don’t end it. Worth it under trees, less so elsewhere.
Overlay or tear-off?
Some codes allow new shingles over one old layer. We recommend a tear-off, because it lets us see and fix the decking.

Common questions
My roof is leaking right now. What should I do?
Move belongings away from the drip, catch the water, and get in touch. We’ll tell you honestly how soon we can get there.
If that isn’t soon enough, getting a temporary tarp on the roof is the priority. We can do the proper repair after.
Can you put new shingles over my old ones?
Some codes allow one overlay. We recommend a tear-off, because it lets us see and replace damaged decking before the new roof goes on.
Will you work with my insurance company?
We can give you a written scope, photos and an estimate for your claim. What’s covered is between you and your insurer.
Do you do metal or flat roofs?
Our roofing work is asphalt shingle roofs and gutters. If you have another kind of roof, ask and we’ll tell you honestly whether we’re the right fit.
