  • Fixtures and hardware fitted, then a final clean
Not included unless we agree it in writingAppliance purchase, furniture moving and design drawings. We’re happy to build from a kitchen designer’s or cabinet supplier’s plans.

How the job runs

The order of work is what keeps a job calm. Each step depends on the one before it.

  1. Visit and measure

We look at the room, check what we can of what’s behind the walls, and talk through what you want.

  2. Written scope and estimate

Every item listed: what comes out, what goes in, and allowances for finishes you haven’t picked yet.

  3. Selections and ordering

Cabinets, tile and fixtures are chosen and ordered before demolition, so the room isn’t left empty waiting for parts.

  4. Demolition and rough-in

The room is taken apart. Framing, plumbing and wiring go in and are inspected where required.

  5. Close-up and finishes

Insulation and drywall, then cabinets, counters, tile, trim and paint.

  6. Walkthrough

We go through the room with you, list anything that needs attention, and finish it.

Decisions you’ll make

We raise these early, explain the trade-offs and give you our honest view. The choice is yours.

Keep the layout, or move things?

Keeping the sink, range or toilet where they are is usually the lower-cost plan. Moving them can make the room work much better. We’ll tell you what each option involves.

Stock, semi-custom or custom cabinets?

Stock cabinets arrive fastest and cost the least. Semi-custom gives more sizes and finishes. Custom fits awkward spaces but takes longest to arrive.

Which countertop?

Quartz is consistent and easy to keep clean. Natural stone varies slab to slab and needs sealing. Laminate costs the least.

Tub, shower or both?

A walk-in shower can make a small bathroom feel bigger. A tub with a shower over it uses the least space. If you might sell one day, keeping one tub in the house is worth discussing.

Is the basement dry?

Before we finish a basement, we look for signs of water. If there are any, the cause has to be dealt with before walls go up.

Where do the lights and outlets go?

Decide before the walls close. Adding them later means opening drywall again.

Common questions

Can we stay in the house during a kitchen or bathroom remodel?

Usually, yes. We seal off the work area and keep a clean path through the house. If you only have one bathroom, we plan the schedule to keep it usable for as long as possible.

Do you design the kitchen?

We can build from a kitchen designer’s or cabinet supplier’s plans, or help you settle a simple layout ourselves. Either way, we check every measurement on site before anything is ordered.

What if you find something behind the walls?

Older houses hide surprises: old wiring, rot, earlier repairs. If we find something, we stop, show you, and give you a written price before doing any extra work.

Can you finish a basement that gets damp?

Not until the cause is fixed. Finishing over a moisture problem traps it behind new walls. We’ll tell you what we see and what needs to happen first.
